Pre-K Teacher
Pay: Commensurate with experience
Schedule: The regular work hours are when the preschool is in session, Monday through Friday 8:30 am to 12:30 pm. An additional hour-long staff meeting each week will be part of your contracted time. There will also be a few programs throughout the year outside of the contracted time that are required. The Good Shepherd school year runs September through May.
Job Summary
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Pre-K Teacher to join our educational team. The ideal candidate will create a nurturing and stimulating environment for 4-5 year old children, fostering their social, emotional, and cognitive development. This role involves utilizing the Tools of the Mind curriculum for planning and implementing engaging activities that promote learning through play while ensuring the safety and well-being of all students. They are to embody and uphold the mission of Good Shepherd Preschool “to provide an excellent, age appropriate learning experience in a Christian environment.”
Duties
Develop and implement age-appropriate lesson plans that align with early childhood education standards and adhere to the Tools of the Mind curriculum.
Create a positive classroom environment that encourages exploration, creativity, and learning while meeting the physical, social, emotional, and creative needs of the students.
Manage classroom behavior effectively, using positive reinforcement techniques to guide student interactions.
Conduct regular assessments of student progress and adapt teaching strategies accordingly.
Collaborate with other educators to enhance the educational experience for all students.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe classroom environment.
Attend staff meetings and continuing education workshops approved by the director.
Attend school concerts and programs outlined by the staff handbook.
Support the Director of Good Shepherd in recruiting new families and maintain current family relationships through positive relationships with both parents and students.
Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding student development and classroom activities.
Be a Christian role model for students, staff, and parents.
Skills
Strong background in childcare and early childhood education principles.
Proficient in classroom management techniques to maintain an effective learning environment.
Experience in behavior management strategies to address diverse student needs.
Knowledge of standardized testing procedures applicable to preschool-aged children.
Excellent communication skills to engage with students, parents, and colleagues effectively.
A passion for teaching and nurturing young minds through creative play-based learning activities.
Interest & dedication to quality Christian preschool education.
An early childhood endorsement, degree and/or classes in education preferred.
Experience working with young children.
